Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Zendo Kern of Council District 5 to the Water Board.
Mr. Kern currently operates a local planning consultant firm and previously owned and
served as President of a contracting business.
A former Hawaii County Council Member, Windward Planning Commissioner and
Downtown Steering Committee Member, Mr. Kern offers a range of experiences
working on water use issues.
Born and raised in Puna, Mr. Kern is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i Island. He indicates
he is a member of the Democratic Party. If confirmed, he may serve a term that expires
December 31, 2023.
