Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Andres Augustine "Andy" Baclig, Jr. of Council District 3 to
the Transportation Commission. Mr. Baclig is a retired Hawai'i County employee having
worked in the Police Department, the Mayor's Office and with the County Council. He
was also a sports writer with the Hawai'i Tribune-Herald and a veteran of the Army
'National Guard.
Mr. Baclig is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i Island and attended the University of Oregon
and Hawaii Community College. He remains active in our community and is a current
member of the Order of Forestry and the Panaewa Community Association.
He states that he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, Mr. Baclig may
serve a 5 year term to end December 31, 2023.
