Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 130-19, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 130-19, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 224
dated April 4, 2019, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Hawaii
Tourism Authority, State of Hawai`i,pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to
the Hawai`i County Research and Development Department.
This resolution provides $35,000 to the Department of Research and Development for the Hawai`i
Island Tourism Strategic Plan. Funds will be used to increase communication, interaction and
understanding between industry stakeholders, residents, and the visitor industry.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 130-19, and
recommends its adoption.
