Dear Chairman Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Karen Anderson of Waikoloa to the So. Kohala
Community Development Plan Action Committee. Ms. Anderson is a business
consultant and former Director of the Nature Conservancy in Washington state.
As an engineer, she has worked in various capacities with the Boeing Company and
Microsoft Corporation. She is also the a co-founder of Zeno Math, a non-profit
education service organization dedicated to closing the math achievement gaps for
economically disadvantaged students.
Ms. Anderson has been a resident of Hawai'i County for the past 6 years. She holds a
BA degree in Physics from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio and a BS in
Engineering and an MBA from the University of Washington.
Ms. Anderson volunteers with the Waikoloa Community Association, Hokula Church in
Puako, and at Hawai'i Preparatory Academy, where her children attends. She is not a
member.of any political party. If confirmed, Ms. Anderson will served a term to end
January 31, 2023.
