SUBJECT: PLUMBING CODE AMENDMENTS
Chapter 17 of the Hawaii County Code adopted the 1982 Edition of the
Uniform Plumbing Code. There have been three later editions of the
Uniform Plumbing Code since then with many new requirements and changes.
The adoption of the latest Uniform Plumbing Code (1991 Edition) with the
attached amendments will bring Hawaii County's plumbing code up to date
and further enhance public health, welfare, and safety.
The major areas affected with the proposed 1991 Uniform Plumbing Code
and amendments are:
1. Inclusion of Water Conservation Requirements
2. More allowance for Plastic Piping
3. Increase Safety Requirements
4. Citation Procedures for Violators
5. Increase of Permit Fees
The proposed amendments have been reviewed and approved by the Office of
the Corporation Counsel.
We request that the attached proposed bill of the Hawaii County Code,
Chapter 17 (Plumbing Code), be adopted.
