SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
Kahakai Boulevard - Proposed 45 mph speed limit
Speed limits along Kahakai Blvd. between Highway 130 and Keonepoko School
have not been authorized. A speed study for this section of Kahakai Blvd.
was conducted and we find 45 mph to be appropriate. We have been in
contact with the Puna Police Department and they concur with our findings.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-260,
Schedule 8 (45 mile per hour limit) be amended.
Speed limits makai of Keonepoko School is currently set at 35 miles per
hour.
