Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, a non-profit created by the community in May 2016, has worked as volunteers very hard over the last 3 years to support, advocate for, and maintain the Garden after Bishop Museum put the Garden up for sale in 2016. As part of our work, we have written and successfully received 3 major grants from federal, state, and private sources, as well as smaller donations from the very supportive community. We are very pleased that the Council is putting forward a Resolution to allow us to pursue negotiations with the County to place conservation easements on the 5 parcels to further enable our purchase of the Garden and to continue to support the Garden's long history of educational, conservation, and cultural work. Thank you for supporting all the community volunteers who have participated in our goal of securing the Garden for the future. There is a small typo that appeared in one draft of the Resolution which I would like to correct: the Federal USDA Forest Service grant is from the Community Forest and Open Space Program.
