Aloha,
iW).
I urge the county council to accept the$630,000 in state grant funds to Com"
CO
satisfy the Towill land condemnation settlement(Puainako Street ==
Extension). As far as I understand, the resolution of this litigation
will allow the County of Hawaii to dedicate the Puainako Street 1
Extension to the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
This was the plan as soon as this highway was opened in 2004,but this
protracted litigation held up conveyance until the county obtained all
the necessary right of way.Its taken roughly 15 years to reach this
point, which is a blessing in disguise.
The legacy Saddle Road improvement project has been completed during
this period of time. The resolution of this land condemnation lawsuit
allows the county to convey this highway to be officially added as a
part of the Daniel K.Inouye Highway.
The only concern I have is how long will it take to consummate that
process. The resolution of this litigationwas the last remaining
barrier.
Sincerely,
Aaron Stene
