RESOLUTION NO. 182 19
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR THE NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND THE WESTERN
INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i County is a member of the Hawai`i State Association of Counties
(HSAC),the National Association of Counties (NACo), and the Western Interstate Region
(WIR); and
WHEREAS,the HSAC Executive Committee on April 12, 2019, approved nominees
Herbert M. "Tim" Richards and Ikaika Anderson for the NACo Board of Directors and nominees
Mason K. Chock and Kelly T. King as the WIR Board of Directors for the respective terms
beginning July 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, HSAC Bylaws state that the Executive Committee shall present their NACo
Board of Directors and the WIR Board of Directors nominations to each council for approval;
and
WHEREAS, on May 8, 2019, Hawai`i County approved their Resolution No. 161-19;
and
WHEREAS,however, at the May 9, 2019 HSAC Executive Committee meeting, it was
reported that not all County Councils approved the proposed nominations, requiring a new slate
of officers to be nominated by the committee; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Ikaika Anderson and KipuKai Kuali'i are approved to serve on the NACo Board of Directors for
the term beginning July 1, 2019.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Herbert M. "Tim" Richards and Kelly T. King are
approved to serve on the Western Interstate Region Board of Directors for the term beginning
July 1, 2019.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the President and the Secretary of the Hawai`i State Association of Counties.
