Chung, Chairman, -Tic) <br /> and Members of the Hawai`i County Council <br /> County of Hawai`i N =° <br /> 25 Aupuni Street - ' -� <br /> t-,75 <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Dear Chairman Chung and Members of the County Council: <br /> SUBJECT: Cost Items, United Public Workers <br /> Bargaining Unit 01 and Employees Excluded from BUO1 <br /> In accordance with Section 89-10(b), HRS, attached for Council action is a resolution <br /> authorizing the appropriation in future fiscal years of funds to cover the negotiated increases to <br /> cost items agreed to between the employers and the United Public Workers (UPW) for <br /> Bargaining Unit 1 and employees excluded from Bargaining Unit 1, that resulted pursuant to <br /> Section 66.01 of the current UPW Bargaining Unit 1 agreement. <br /> These negotiated increases to the cost items that were originally submitted to Council, cover the <br /> remaining two years of the contract period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021. The cost <br /> items presented for your consideration are the result of additional across-the-board increases for <br /> bargaining unit 01 and employees excluded from that bargaining unit. <br /> Attached as an exhibit to the resolution is a schedule showing the total cost of these various <br /> increases over the remaining two years of the contract period. <br /> Due to the statewide implications of this matter and the lead time needed to implement these <br /> changes, we ask that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council <br /> meeting scheduled for June 4, 2019. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Harr • <br /> Mayor <br /> Attachment—Resolution and Exhibit 110 <br /> Comm.
