RESOLUTION NO. 181 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA
SCHOOLS SUPPORT FOUNDATION FOR KEONEPOKO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S
JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS PROGRAM AWARD CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit
organization whose mission is to supplement and fund activities to promote educational
opportunities at Pahoa High and Intermediate School, Pahoa Elementary School and Keonepoko
Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Keonepoko Elementary School assists students with appropriate
interpersonal skill development and promotes a safe school environment through the Junior
Police Officers Program; and
WHEREAS,the Junior Police Officers Program collaborates with a Hawai`i County
Community Police Officer to inspire students to become positive,productive, and law-abiding
individuals; and
WHEREAS, Keonepoko Elementary School hosted an award celebration to honor the
Junior Police Officers of the 2018-2019 school year, which was held on May 8, 2019; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free
events that promote the health, safety, and welfare of Hawai`i residents; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation for reimbursement
of expenses incurred for Keonepoko Elementary School's Junior Police Officers Program for
their 2018-2019 award celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates ro riates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
