Aloha All
I would like to share my comments and observations on the proposed County Budget.
• With a huge deficit in County funds,I do not believe this is a time to increase the headcount in the County.
If there is any headcount increase,it should only be for critical positions.
• The County had requested funds from the State for help with the Kilauea eruption,which was granted. If you
need to request the State for additional funds, it would appear to me that the County does not have them.
• Why increase the Budget for non essential employees at this time?
• Better management of the current Budget and funds should be done prior to any approval for an increase in
the Budget
• It has been said that the latest increase in the GET should be used for transportation related expenses.. It
appears to me that these additional jobs are not necessarily related to transportation.
• From many residents I have talked to,we do not believe that the Transfer stations all need to be open 7 days
a week. If people manage their time,trips,etc.there would be no need to have then open 7 days.The current
schedule for the Stations from our experiences seems to be adequate.
• In other States with the deficit down in government funds,as well as a significant decrease in funds from
Island tourism,this should Not be a time to increase payroll and add additional jobs or additional costs.
• Similar financial situations in other States have resulted in layoffs or furloughs of County and State
employees,not an increase in spending.

I request all of you to please scrutinize the proposed increase to the Budget.What can we do more smartly with the
funds we have?
