The grant funds will be used to purchase equipment, motor vehicle(s),personnel training and for overtime costs incurred during training. Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Hawaii Tourism Authority for these funds. In order to receive the funds indicated above, the agreement must be signed by the end of the current fiscal year. The Hawaii Fire Department requests that a breach be authorized to submit this bill after the May 30, 2019 submission deadline, and to waive it from the Finance Committee in order to be placed on the June 19, 2019 Council agenda. They also request that the five-day hold for reconsideration period be waived in order to further expedite this resolution. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Finance for placement on its future agenda.
