The proposed project is ready to be expanded and equipment can be ordered and shipped as soon as funding allows. Additionally,the scope of this project is flexible to meet the program objectives of the Transportation Alternative Program and the funds available. If awarded,the purchase of bikeshare stations and bikes as proposed in this project will make a meaningful contribution to enhancing the surface transportation system,while also making a positive impact on the social,economic,environmental, and health systems within Kailua-Kona. This project relates to the surface transportation in Kailua-Kona by improving non-driver access to public transportation and enhanced mobility, improving community health and air quality, and increasing environmental mitigation through the reduction of fossil fuel usage.
