RESOLUTION NO. 213 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII
COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR ITS SENIOR FARMER'S
MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce, mitigate, and alleviate poverty in the
County of Hawaii and enable low-income individuals to become self-sufficient; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)provide low-
income seniors with eligible fresh produce with the goal of improving their health and nutritional
status and each SFMNP participant receives a book of coupons to exchange for fresh, nutritious
and unprocessed locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey from an authorized farmer,
farmers' market or roadside stand; and
WHEREAS, the HCEOC is requesting funds to assist SFMNP with conducting outreach

activities, intake services to Senior Housing Nutrition Centers and Clubs, and help process
applications; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of Aging is to maximize opportunities for
older adults to age well, remain active, and enjoy quality of lives while engaging in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting county department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, '
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to
provide a grant to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council for its Senior Farmer's
Market Nutrition Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the County Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
