Dear Council Members:
I am a resident of Makakilo on O'ahu and am unable to attend in person due to a family emergency on the
continental US.
I am very concerned with what I am seeing from back home in Hawaii,the desecration of structures on Mauna
Kea that had spiritual significance to myself and all the Mauna Kea protectors. I still get sick to my stomach
thinking about it.
Mauna Kea protectors protect WITHOUT ARMS OR VIOLENCE and yet the County/State send people to tear
down our sacred structures. The blatant disregard for the law by the STATE, BLNR, and UH etc. has hit a
critical mass.
I implore you to remember who this land belongs to: Hawaiians. And it is under the jurisdiction of Hawaiian
cultural law and practices. YOU KNOW THIS. Many have lost sight of what is PONO.
I am hoping that allowing this testimony today some of you ARE AWARE of the injustices going on.
Here is my question: WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS REGARDING THE PEACEFUL PROTECTORS ON
MAUNA KEA?
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE THERE!
What I am seeing are armed officers and a build up by the Governor to bring more armed reinforcements--
AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE UNARMED?
1. MAUNA KEA PROTECTORS HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE ON THE MAUNA
2. THERE IS PLENTY OF EVIDENCE THAT PROVES THE TMT SHOULD NOT BE BUILT
3. UNTIL MAUNA KEA IS RESTORED TO HER TRUE SPLENDOR AND INTO THE FUTURE:
PROTECTORS WILL CONTINUE TO PROTECT the MAUNA.
Do what you know in your heart is PONO and stop the insanity of desecrating the Mauna and Hawaiian lands.
STAND ALONGSIDE THE PROTECTORS. HAWAII WILL BE BETTER FOR IT!
