Subject: Mauna Kea and TMT construction safety

Aloha,please consider as testimony the following safety concerns with regard to Mauna kea and TMT
construction. I feel it is not safe for the county to proceed with construction on Mauna Kea.
* The county, cities and state do not have clear plans for when construction begins on the Mauna for the safety
of the workers nor those who will stand in protection. This lack of clarity will lead to greater possibility of
injury or death to humans.
* There is no indication that the training which has recently occurred for law enforcement officials, DOCare etc.
meets the standards that will ensure the safety of all involved. Has their training only been in military weapons,
like the LRAD and multi-fire weapons or also in deescalation?
* Who is funding the militarized response to peaceful protectors on the Mauna? Why are we the Hawai'i State
taxpayers funding these actions for private corporations and foreign governments?
* Have all permits truly been lawfully submitted?Has an outside entity verified that this is true and how does an
EIS from 2010 validate a CDUP?
* The 8 criteria for building in a conservation district have not been met.
* Actual accounting of the jobs and$$that will enter our islands because of the TMT have not been accurately
portrayed. Hearing the same PR spiel from the Chamber of Commerce and Business members who will benefit
(not the entire community) is not a proper accounting.
* This has already caused public health issues in terms of emotional,psychological and social trauma. Are
schools being given funds to help children and communities cope with trauma incurred by the desecration of
Mauna Kea.
*Tactics of intimidation have already occurred and continue which are not in agreement with Hawaiian
values. Taking down the ahu and hale while "decommissioned" telescopes await a plan,purchase of the L-RAD
and other items, the UPSWING in PR from the businesses and people with money on media all are part of
those.
