RESOLUTION NO. 227 .19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAII INC. TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE BIG ISLAND
REGIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities by improving their quality of life
through activities and sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. has requested funds to assist with the Big
Island Regional Softball Tournament that will be held on April 25, 2020, in West Hawai`i, which
will include expenses for awards, lunch, refreshments, tables, chairs, and portable bathrooms;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation creates partnerships with other
recreation providers and community organizations to maximize service and activities for the
public; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. for expenses related to
the Big Island Regional Softball Tournament.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
