RESOLUTION NO. 236 19
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR MULTI-YEAR LEASES OF REAL
PROPERTY FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY AND OFFICE OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Department of Information Technology and Office of
Housing and Community Development currently rents office, storage and warehouse space identified
as a portion of TMK: (3) 2-2-040:036, Units 102, 104, 105 and warehouse, situated at 1990 Kino`ole
Street, District of South Hilo, County and State of Hawaii, and owned by Kaneshiro & Sons
Enterprise, Limited and Glenn Kaneshiro Partnership ("Landlords"); and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Department of Information Technology and Office of
Housing and Community Development continues to need these rental spaces for the near future and so
desires to enter into five year lease agreements commencing on July 1, 2019, for a five year term
ending June 30, 2024, with an additional five year option, with Landlords; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Department of Information Technology and Office of
Housing and Community Development are requesting authorization for the Mayor to enter into multi-
year lease agreements with Landlords for these rental spaces; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
Honorable Harry Kim, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, is hereby authorized to enter into multi-year
Leases with Kaneshiro & Sons Enterprise, Limited and Glenn Kaneshiro Partnership, for five year
term beginning July 1, 2019, with an additional five year option.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to
cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the Leases.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to:
(1) Mayor Harry Kim; (2) Department of Finance; (3) Department of Information Technology and
Office of Housing and Community Development; (4) Craig T. Masuda, Deputy Corporation Counsel,
Section Chief; and (5) Mr. Glenn Kaneshiro, 1990 Kino`ole Street#115, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720.
