From: Heather Galinato To: Council Testimony Subject: Resolution 233 JUL2 PM 12: 05 Date: Monday,July 22,2019 1:28:00 AM Aloha, I add to the voices asking you to vote no on this resolution sought by sen.Kahele. Not only has the TMT build group met the burden of multiple court challenges and been issued legal standing to build the 30 meter, but they have unendingly worked to improve the lot of our island residents. This measure,I feel,is an attempt to not only politically grandstand, but it also negates the wishes of a far larger demographic than is being represented by the people against the construction. The disparate groups that make up this protest have gone on record as saying that they want it shut down. This is an attack on world wide astronomy, and could impact the future of global astronomy as we know. The people that make up the protest cohort have legitimate concerns and deserve authentic redress in some respect, but crippling and entire field of science and higher learning by holding an entire island hostage,is not the way forward. Let them seek appropriate consideration through legal means to get beyond the pain of the past. Please do not rob humanity of the insights about the world we live in,by voting yea for this politically motivated stunt penned by Kai Kahele. The other locations under consideration by the TMT are not favorable in the same way as Maunakea, and the findings will not be as broad nor as helpful.
