During the long process leading up and subsequent to, the issuance of The Notice to Proceed, we have placed our trust in government with the expectation that the rule of law will be enforced. While we do not have a problem with requesting Governor Ige rescind the Emergency Proclamation, we are strongly opposed to and see no benefit to imposition of a moratorium. Further as Resolution 233-19 does not identify any specific outcomes including and not limited to, how further delay of allowing this project to proceed will address and/or mitigate the multiple and complex underlying issues that have engendered such strong feelings of opposition for some, and in consideration of the following benefits we remain committed to advocating for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT)to be allowed to proceed. To reiterate, we are strongly opposed to imposition of a moratorium on construction. Rather, we believe it is time to allow this project to proceed. Mahalo for this opportunity to speak in support of the Thirty Meter Telescope and the many opportunities afforded by the TMT. Respectfully submitted, Jacqui L.
