This is in support of Resolution 219 19.
The laws regarding beekeeping in Hawaii County need to be reviewed and
revised. An increase in best practices beekeeping could significantly increase
agricultural production both in commercial and back yard operations.
It is legal to have a honeybee hive in congested areas like Waikiki, but not
legal in most areas of the Big Island including agricultural zoned areas such as
Hawaiian Paradise Park. Resolution 219 19 will allow the appointment of a
working group to study this issue and if appropriate, suggest revisions of the
current regulations.
