Becoming a beekeeper is a dedication of time and energy to creating hives which help to pollinate the immediate environment. Such practices should be encouraged throughout Hawaii and not be contained to only agriculturally assessed properties. There are many beekeepers who live in areas that are not agriculturally assessed and live in fear of having to move or give away their beehives only because current laws do not allow them to legally keep bees. Compared to more populated islands such as a Oahu, these laws are very outdated. In comparison to large cities such as New York City, the support for beekeepers on Hawaii Island is non existent Beekeeping should be supported through thoughtful policy and education. Please lets work together to make this happen. Sincerely, —4 Susan Collins --+ %-n c: r s oy k Comm. o Ref. To: 1 Ref. date AUG 24t
