Nelson, 11-3918 4th St,Volcano, Hawaii Via email: counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov, ashler.kierkiewicz@hawaiicounty.gov Respectively Presented to: Council Member Ashley Kierkiewicz, Chair of the House Committee on Planning, and Government Relations& Economic Development Aloha Chairman Kierkiewicz and committee member! ' 1 As a resident and hobbyist beekeeper living in Volcano, I am encouraged with this resolution concept and dedication to engage further conservations, consulting with other beekeepers, farmers, and residents acknowledging the socioeconomic benefits bees present to communities. Beekeeping need not be a contentious issue, instead revered as a cornerstone of sustainability for agriculture and the individual humanities of man with nature. My relationships with many Hawaii Island beekeepers has grown through our Bigislandbeekeepers (RIBA) group providing ongoing dialogue of the benefits or our hobbies or fulltime occupation. Nevertheless, each of us share in the realization and enormous contribution these tiny creatures pass to us all. Congratulations on your teams forward thinking and future considerations. Michael A.
