Dear Council:
This is to notify you that I support Resolution 219-19 addressing the future of
beekeeping on this island.
This resolution describes the importance of honeybees and the bee industry to
this island. It asks for the formation of a stakeholder's Working Group. The
purpose of this working group would be to study, discuss, and make
recommendations to the County Council to address and, hopefully, change the
outdated and no longer relevant ordinances currently in our county code. The
Working roup would be composed of beekeepers at various levels of
beekeeping and of representatives of the County of Hawaii.
