RESOLUTION NO. 260 "19
RESOLUTION ABOLISHING AN ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN POSITION
AND CREATING A TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN IV POSITION WITHIN THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS' TRAFFIC DIVISION
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that
the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been
made by the council and abolish positions with the consent of the council."; and
WHEREAS, the Electronics Technician position, Position No. 00-04840, class of
work is not meeting the needs of the Division; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for a Traffic Technician IV due to the increasing
number of signalized intersections and the evolving electronics and equipment used to
run these signals; and '
WHEREAS, the Division is also implementing regularly scheduled traffic signal
maintenance and retiming programs, which requires more staff to perform electronics
maintenance, traffic studies and investigations; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is requesting that Position No. 00-
04840, Electronics Technician, BC-15, position be abolished and that a Traffic
Technician IV, SR-19, position be created in the Traffic Division; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that Position No. 00-04840, Electronics Technician, BC-15, position be
abolished and that a Traffic Technician IV, SR-19, position be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Department of Finance, Department of Public Works and Department of Human
Resources.
