Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation of funds of approximately $2,100 from
the town of Yurihama, Japan. The funding will be used towards travel and other
expenses for the attendance of the Hawaiian Festival in Yurihama, Japan on July 4 10,
2019.

A. REQUEST:
Please prepare a resolution to accept and acknowledge a donation of approximately$2100 for travel paid by
the town of Yurihama, Japan, for Executive Assistant Rose Bautista to attend Hawaiian Festival on July 4-
10, 2019; Ms. Bautista's responsiblities include Sister City Relationships and she formally represented the
Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii at this years event. The Town of Yurihama arranged for travel,
meal, and accomodation expenses.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED)•
Over 20 Years have passed since Hawaii County and Yurihama first established our Sister city relationship.
In order to continue to nurture and support this friendship it is important for a Representative from the
Mayor's Office attend their annual Hawaiian Festival. This further strengthens the ties between both
communities.

RE: Resolution No. 261-19 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A DONATION OF FUNDS TO BE USED TOWARDS TRAVEL AND OTHER
EXPENSES FOR THE ATTENDANCE OF THE HAWAIIAN FETIVAL IN
YURIHAMA,JAPAN.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii,this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
