,tV OF N,w'• <br /> . <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII + .,-, -� , : -• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> ie ;.f,-+?,4E OF NI'''` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 269 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KU`IKAHI <br /> MEDIATION CENTER FOR VOLUNTEER MEDIATION ADVANCED TRAINING. <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers <br /> mediation, facilitation, and training to strengthen the ability of diverse individuals and groups to <br /> resolve interpersonal conflicts and community issues; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center offers a suite of dispute prevention and <br /> resolution services by trained, volunteer mediators, regardless of a client's ability to pay and <br /> thereby increasing access to justice for everyone; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center provides free training to its volunteer mediators, <br /> including advanced training opportunities that provide mediators with the expertise and skillset <br /> to handle more complex and specialized mediations, such as domestic and family cases; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center is requesting funds for two advanced mediation <br /> training events and other related expenses to continue its role as the only nonprofit mediation <br /> center in East Hawai`i with volunteers that are prepared to address conflict in the community; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney seeks to improve the criminal justice <br /> system by working collaboratively with the community, and encourages and promotes crime <br /> prevention and early intervention initiatives; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Ku'ikahi Mediation Center for two advanced <br /> mediation trainings and related expenses. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
