'270 19 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO AWARD <br /> FUNDS TO MALAMA '0 PUNA <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama '0 Puna, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as <br /> defined above, shall work to establish a temporary road for residents and farmers <br /> from Malama Ki to access lava locked homes and farms; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to provide $28,000 to Malama '0 <br /> Puna; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds were received from private sources for disaster <br /> relief and this project is related to the disaster recovery efforts specific to roads that <br /> were damaged by the 2018 Kilauea volcanic eruption; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />
