SUBJECT: Request for a presentation regarding electric buses, energy sustainability, and
disaster resiliency.
1 am requesting at least 60 minutes for a presentation and discussion with Mr. Justin Scalzi of
BYD Coach& Bus LLC regarding battery/electric-powered buses and their role in energy
sustainability and disaster resiliency.
I would like to invite representatives of the Mass Transit Agency, Hawaii Electric Light Co.,
and the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency to participate in this discussion.
Please place this item on an appropriate Committee agenda for September 17, 2019, at the West
Hawaii Civic Center.
