RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAII INC. FOR ITS AWARD RECOGNITION LUNCHEON IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities improve their quality of life
through sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. holds year-round sports training and athletic
competitions for children and adults to help develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and
skill, experience joy, build friendships, and participate in the sharing of gifts with fellow athletes,
families, and the community in West Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is organizing an Awards Recognition
Luncheon on January 25, 2020, in West Hawai`i to honor the athletes, coaches, volunteers,
family, and service organizations; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is requesting funds to help offset the costs
for food, refreshments, games, leis, and awards for nine different categories; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports partnerships with other
recreation providers and community organizations, such as Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., that
provide fun and healthy activities for the public; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. for its Award
Recognition Luncheon in West Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
