RESOLUTION NO. 282 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE MUSIC ARRANGEMENTS AND
EQUIPMENT FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY BAND.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Band, composed of approximately 33 part-time
musicians and a full-time director, provides music for special community functions and concerts
for public enjoyment throughout Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Band also performs free monthly concerts at Mo`oheau
Park in downtown Hilo and at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1883, the Hawai`i County Band is the second oldest
professional musical organization in the State of Hawai`i, the oldest being the Royal Hawaiian
Band, which was founded in 1836; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation requests funds to purchase music
arrangements and equipment for the Hawai`i County Band; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to purchase music arrangements and equipment for the Hawai`i County
Band.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
