RESOLUTION NO. 295 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAIIAN
PARADISE PARK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH FOR THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
EVENT.
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization whose mission is to promote community partnerships and neighborhood
camaraderie with the goal of creating safer and stronger neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch along with the Hawai`i
County Council and various local organizations and businesses will be organizing the National
Night Out event on October 1, 2019 at the Kea`au High School Play Court; and
WHEREAS,National Night Out facilitates relationship-building between community
members, law enforcement, and first responders to increase neighborhood safety by improving
crime, drug, and disaster preparedness and awareness; and
WHEREAS,National Night Out is a free event with food, live entertainment,
demonstrations, information booths, games, and prizes; and
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch is requesting funds to cover
expenses for a sound stage, live music for three hours, and other incidentals; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports safe and healthy community
activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch for the
National Night Out event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
