RESOLUTION NO. 296 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAIIAN
PARADISE PARK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH TO HOST NATIONAL NIGHT OUT.
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
entity that promotes community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie with the goal of
creating safer and stronger neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch is the nonprofit entity
spearheading Hawai`i County's inaugural National Night Out on Tuesday, October 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS,National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that
promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie with participation from
over 38 million residents in all fifty states; and
WHEREAS, Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch is requesting funding to
assist with expenses related to hosting National Night Out including venue rental, food, and other
incidentals; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney seeks to improve the criminal justice
system by working collaboratively with the community, and encourages and promotes crime
prevention and early intervention initiatives; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Hawaiian Paradise Park Neighborhood Watch to
assist with hosting National Night Out.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
