Re: Operating Budget
In the current Budget Ordinance 19-73, $12,000 is appropriated in the Police Department's Dept of
Health- Tobacco Sting account. Additional state funds in the amount of$4,000 are being
provided by the State of Hawaii, Department of Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division to be
used to fund operations to combat tobacco sales to minors.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Hawaii County Police's Dept of Health- Tobacco Sting account,
bringing the total appropriation to $16,000.
The Police Department requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed
on the September 18, 2019 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds. If there
are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Hauoli Aiona of the Hawaii County Police
Department at 961-2273.
