RESOLUTION NO. 292 1.9
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND
MEDIATION,INC., TO CONDUCT ADDITIONAL MEDIATION TRAINING
COURSES.
WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., doing business as West Hawai`i Mediation
Center, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower individuals,
organizations, and communities to deal with conflict by providing mediation, facilitation, and
education services; and
WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., would like to conduct additional mediation
training courses that provide dispute resolution services and the facilitation skills needed to
mitigate current and future conflicts within the community; and
WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., has requested financial assistance to defray the
costs for extra supplies and training materials necessary to conduct additional mediation training
courses and outreach services at West Hawai`i Mediation Center; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports the services provided by
Big Island Mediation, Inc., as it falls within its program goals and objectives for domestic and
family violence prevention and intervention initiatives; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Big Island Mediation, Inc., to conduct additional
mediation training courses.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
