RESOLUTION NO. 313 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION'S ADAPTIVE SWIMMING PROGRAM IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the mission of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide a wide
array of services for the public with excellence, integrity, and aloha; and
WHEREAS, the Aquatics Section of the Department of Parks and Recreation is starting
an Adaptive Swimming Program that is tailored for children in West Hawai`i with intellectual
disabilities such as autism, ADHD, and down syndrome; and
WHEREAS, the Adaptive Swimming Program will provide classes that will focus on
water safety, skill enhancement, positive social interaction, and lifesaving skills such as floating,
breath control, and basic swimming motions; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has requested financial assistance
for safety equipment related to the Adaptive Swimming Program in West Hawai`i; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to assist with expenses related to the Adaptive Swimming Program in West
Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
