A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION'S ADAPTIVE SWIMMING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Section develops and
initiates water safety operations and programs, and promotes water safety to the public; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has developed an Adaptive
Swimming Program for children with intellectual disabilities between the ages of five and ten,
where they will learn floating, breath control, kicking and beginning freestyle; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has requested funds to pay for
training equipment such as floatation devices, safety rails, pool barriers, and a teaching platform
to aid in the teaching of swimming skills; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation for expenses related to its Adaptive Swimming Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
