Subject: TRANSPARENCY REQ: NO ON RES.304/HELE-ON/Council Sept 18
Aloha Council Members,
I am truly appalled at learning this information.
This is another example of lack of transparency which further erodes the public's trust in our elected
representatives.
Those of you who have been on the council for a while, ran a democratic and transparent Council in my
experience.
It appears that things have certainly changed.
To pass a resolution, basically in secrecy, surely is not a pond way to run the Council.
Wasn't it Former employers of the Mass Transit administrator, Ms. Carreira, who literally botched the mass
transit project due to poor oversight and accountability?
And now we are rewarding them with an easy pass to a contract through a resolution which lacks details, was
submitted late, waived from the normal committee hearing, getting only one vote(not the usual two) before Council,
and waived from the normal five-day reconsideration period. To make matters worse, the contract amount is not
disclosed.
These are taxpayer dollars and we have a right to know.
Please send Resolution 304 to the Finance Committee for thorough review.
Mahalo,
Sylvia Dolena
