RESOLUTION NO. 323 19
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT
AWARD OF $100,000 FROM HAWAII COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
TO FUND THE HO`OWAIWAI FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT
CENTER FOR HAWAII ISLAND PILOT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has been selected to receive a
$100,000 grant award from Hawaii Community Foundation; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the Ho`owaiwai Financial
Empowerment Center for Hawaii Island Pilot Program to establish a Financial
Empowerment Center (FEC) model on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) model provides
free, professional one-on-one financial counseling and other related services to
residents; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Management shall oversee the implementation
of this project and recommends the acceptance of this grant award; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter,
provides that the council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities, or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real
estate; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the
County of Hawaii, accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor and to
the Finance Department.
