ATE OF.M�'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 342 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR THE SAKADA <br /> DAY CELEBRATION 2019. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the economic, cultural, and natural <br /> environment of Hawai`i Island through sponsorship of festivals, programs, and special events <br /> unique to this island; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is working with committee organizers to organize the Sakada Day <br /> Celebration 2019, which will be held in Pahoa on December 21, 2019, to celebrate the historical <br /> significance and the contributions of Filipinos to Hawai`i's diverse and multicultural society; and <br /> WHEREAS, Sakada Day Celebration 2019 will feature a ceremony recognizing the <br /> surviving sakadas, exhibits of Philippine artifacts and apparel, a fashion show of Filipino attire, <br /> presentations and photographs of plantation life, demonstrations of Filipino arts, crafts, food, and <br /> entertainment from around the Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to cover expenses such as food, materials, <br /> supplies, and awards for the Sakada Day Celebration 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> strengthen and preserve Hawai`i Island's communities and natural resources as an outstanding <br /> location for business; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Big Island Resource Conservation and <br /> Development Council for expenses related to the Sakada Day Celebration 2019. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
