.-;,til-it`:".;,;:.4 f COUNTY OF HAWAI`I I- ` 5Nk i.- STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 345 19 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA YOUTH FOUNDATION, INC., FOR THE KA HAMAKUA MAKAHIKI. WHEREAS, the Hamakua Youth Foundation, Inc., (HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, grassroots organization dedicated to creating nurturing, stimulating, and enjoyable summer and after-school programs for youth of the Hamakua district; and WHEREAS, HYF is collaborating with several community organizations to coordinate the Ka Hamakua Makahiki, which will be held December 14, 2019, at Honoka`a Park; and WHEREAS, this event is free to the public and will perpetuate the Hawaiian traditions of Makahiki, a time of peace, relaxation, games, and agriculture; and WHEREAS, Ka Hamakua Makahiki will embrace the spirit of kuleana, aloha, and `ohana while participants enjoy lei making, ku`i kalo, kaula making, kapala, and Makahiki games; and WHEREAS, HYF is requesting funding assistance for refreshments and other miscellaneous expenses associated with the Ka Hamakua Makahiki; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports events that provide the public with safe and enjoyable activities that encourage community camaraderie; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hamakua Youth Foundation, Inc., to help fund the Ka Hamakua Makahiki. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
