Aloha Council Members,
Citizens'Climate Lobby is dedicated to building support in Congress for
bipartisan legislation for climate change solutions. We are actively
raising awareness and support for a carbon fee and dividend legislation.
We believe this is the single best first step in enabling meaningful and
timely reduction of US greenhouse gas emissions.

We recognize that Resolution 322 19 supports and encourages Hawaii
County to implement local actions that are urgently needed as we
mitigate and adapt to climate change. We applaud the introduction of
Resolution 332 19 in declaring a Hawaii County Climate Emergency,and
respectfully urge your unanimous support.
We also suggest an amendment to include mention of the need to 1)
actively encourage and promote the use of emission-free vehicles and
enable a rapid expansion of public EV charging infrastructure,and 2)
actively pursue adaptation strategies to allow our community to more
proactively respond to inevitable disruption of our communities by
rising sea levels and more egregious weather disasters.
The world has awakened and communities around the world and across the
US,from New York to San Fransisco,have made similar climate emergency
declarations,
Hawaii County will be in good company,and Hawaii County will be on the
right side of history in unanimously passing this resolution.
