Re: Report of Council Members' Participation in at Your Voice—Our Community
Workshop
In accordance with HRS §92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of Council Members Ashley
Kierkiewicz, Susan "Sue"Keohokapu Lee-Loy, and myself at the University of Hawaii -
Science and Technology building in Hilo for the Your Voice—Our Community Civic
Engagement Workshop put on by the Hawaii Island Women's March &Hawai`i Alliance for
Progressive Action (HAPA). The topics of discussion included government operations, effective
advocating, campaigning, and networking with elected officials and community leaders across
Hawai`i.
HRS §92-2.5(e)provides that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum, may
attend an informational meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention seminar, or
community meeting, provided that the meeting is not specifically and exclusively organized for
or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the next duly
noticed meeting of the board, the board members shall report their attendance and the matters
presented and discussed that relate to official board business.
