ORDER OF RESOLUTIONS Res. 301-19: URGES THE DIRECTORS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO COLLABORATE AND DEVELOP A PLAN FOR A WASTE STREAM REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY FOR RENEWABLE AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY GENERATION FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII Seeks to address an increasing supply of solid waste through a waste stream reduction technology mechanism that would conserve County funds, reduce the use of fossil fuels, and improve environmental conditions on Hawaii Island. BILLS FOR ORDINANCES Bill 101: AMENDS CHAPTER 14, HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE 24, RELATING TO HERBICIDE USE Prohibits the use of certain prohibited herbicides on County owned or maintained parks and alongside County roads, bikeways, sidewalks, trails, drainageways, and waterways; and creates a transition committee to research and develop alternative methods of vegetation management. The ban will take effect on or after January 1, 2024. The email shall indicate the appropriate Committee or Council meeting, the meeting date, agenda item (communication, bill, resolution, or report number), and number of testifiers on the video submittal. Each video submittal shall be limited to a single agenda item. Video submittals may contain up to three individual testifiers and shall each be up to three minutes in length. Video testimony will not be played during the meeting; however, it will be distributed to Council Members prior to the meeting.
