RESOLUTION NO. . 307 . .
WHEREAS, the Hilo Community Players has served the cov nity of
Hilo and the island of Hawaii as a non-profit , theatre or ization
from 1938-1978 ; and t.
WHEREAS , the Hilo Community Players has given the citi -ns of „ •'
community of Hilo the opportunity to become involved in the ' •erf..,.. ance
of live theatre both as participants and audience ; and Lr- ,
WHEREAS , the Hilo Community Players has diversified its program to
include an island-wide traveling theatre known as "Hawaii Theatre
Huaka' i" and a Teen-Children' s summer program; and
WHEREAS , the Hilo Community Players has served the theatrical in-
terests of the community of Hilo by coordinating and sponsoring visits
by theatre groups from Honolulu.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate the Hilo Community
Players on the occasion of its fortieth year of service to the commu-
nity of Hilo.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be
and is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the Hilo
Community Players ; Dorothy Thompson, Culture and Arts Coordinator,
Department of Parks and Recreation; Frances Sherrard, President of the
East Hawaii Cultural Council ; Peter Schickler, Community Arts Coordinator,
State Foundation on Culture and the Arts ; Alfred Preis , Executive Direc-
tor, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts ; and the Hawaii State
Theatre Council.
