Resolution No. 163
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 363-5, Hawaii Revised
Statutes, as amended, which provides for the establishment
of Veterans' Cemeteries in the County of Hawaii, a
Veterans' Cemetery was established in Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that Resolution No. 128,
adopted on May 15, 1957, be amended and updated; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a larger
committee for the management of said cemetery;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that there is hereby created a
Veterans' Cemetery Committee of the Veterans' Cemetery,
County of Hawaii, to be organized as follows:
Orqanization.
1. The committee shall be composed of nine (9)
members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the
approval of the Council in a manner proscribed in
Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter.
2. The Hawaii Island Veterans' Affairs advisor
(Department of Social Services of the State of Hawaii
and the Director of the Parks and Recreation), or his
designate, shall be ex officio members of the committee.
3. There shall be a chairman of the committee who
shall be elected by the members from their membership.
4. The meetings of the committee shall be called
at the discretion of the chairman or at the request of
the majority of the members of the committee, the time
and place to be decided by the chairman.
Duties of the Committee.
1. It shall be the duty of the committee to act in
an advisory capacity to the Mayor and the County Council
concerning all matters pertaining to the operation,
management and maintenance of.the Veterans' Cemetery,
County of Hawaii.
2. The committee may adopt such rules and regulations
as it may deem necessary for the proper management of the
Veterans' Cemetery, County of Hawaii.
