Mixed Recycling Bin
• Paper (newspaper, copy paper, mail , corrugated cardboard,
magazines, boxboard, etc.)
• Plastics - most shapes and sizes including plastic bags, film
• Metal and Aluminum cans (soup cans, canned meat, pet food
cans, etc.)
• Metal lids - e.g. juice bottles & peanut butter jars.
Glass container only - bottles, jars, etc.; no caps/covers/lids
Cardboard bins at Hilo, Kea'au and Kealakehe.

County Diversion rate : 20.8 %
This diversion rate does NOT take into consideration
what is recycled privately. That is by businesses as
well as private recyclers .

Based on our collection data , the
annual increase to the County 's landfill
will be approximately 3 , 100 tons
or 1 . 0 - 1 . 5 % by weight . Plastic,
newspaper, mixed paper, metal cans .
