RESOLUTION NO. 357 19
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF FUNDS
TO BE USED TOWARDS TRAVEL AND OTHER EXPENSES INCURRED FROM
COUNCIL MEMBER REBECCA VILLEGAS' ATTENDANCE AT A CLIMATE
SUMMIT AND CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK CITY.
WHEREAS, Council Member Rebecca Villegas, along with other Hawai`i
representatives, attended a week-long Climate Summit and a one-day conference titled"Climate
Crisis, Global Land Use, and Human Rights Conference" during the 74th United Nations General
Assembly in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Clean Energy Group, Inc., has donated funds for the purpose of subsidizing
the cost for travel and other expenses incurred from attending both the summit and conference
that were held in September 2019; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, accepts the donation of$1,500 from Clean Energy Group, Inc.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution
be sent to Lewis Milford, President, Clean Energy Group, Inc., 50 State Street, Suite 1,
Montpelier, Vermont 05602.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Honorable Mayor Harry Kim, Director of Finance, and County Clerk.
