COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • ,TE•OF•N!`� . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 359 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA <br /> SCHOOLS SUPPORT FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH REESTABLISHING <br /> CULTURAL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AT PAHOA HIGH AND INTERMEDIATE <br /> SCHOOL. <br /> WHEREAS, The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose purpose is to supplement and fund activities that promote educational <br /> opportunities for students attending public schools in Pahoa; and <br /> WHEREAS, Pahoa High and Intermediate School is a public school with limited <br /> funding and is working towards reestablishing its extracurricular Native Hawaiian cultural <br /> activities such as the Makahiki games, Spring Ho`ike, and lei-making classes; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is requesting funds to purchase a <br /> full set of reusable Makahiki game equipment, costume- and lei-making supplies, and other <br /> incidentals required to reestablish Native Hawaiian cultural activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol-free and drug-free <br /> events that will enrich the quality of life for community members; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation to assist with <br /> reestablishing cultural enrichment activities at Pahoa High and Intermediate School. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
